Program "Leo, luego existo" with Cecilia Toussaint at FUL 2012

With the interpretation of two songs by Consuelo Velázquez, singer and actress Cecilia Toussaint delighted the audience at the 25th University Book Fair.

Mexican singer, dancer and actress, she is one of the representative figures of rock music in Mexico, and for the last year she has been participating in INBA's reading promotion program along with 50 other figures of the fine arts.

On this occasion, Cecilia Toussaint's readings were dedicated to the book 101 women of our country, related to the history of contemporary music. Names and songs came up in the forum: Ángela Peralta, Isabel Vargas Lozano better known as Chavela Vargas and Consuelo Velázquez, among others.

Cecilia Toussaint's career began in 1978 when she was part of the group La Nopalera; her work in radio, soap operas, as a soloist, in theater, and with the group Arpía she recorded an album. In 1991 she achieved a definitive rise in her career and consolidated herself as the greatest soloist of rock in Spanish in Mexico.

As part of the program "Leo, luego existo" (I read, therefore I am), actress Lilia Aragón, shared a live reading with the audience where she addressed the relentless work of women to achieve recognition in a macho world. She highlighted the lack of respect for women's human rights: "Not even the language is kind to women, women like shotguns loaded in a corner".

He spoke about various topics such as repressed sexuality, domestic and labor violence where machismo is present through power, segregation and discrimination.

The Mexican film, theater and television actress, and current secretary general of the National Actors Association (ANDA), while sharing her passion for reading at the International Pavilion defined FUL 2012 as a magnificent Fair: "Coming to a university in my country is an honorable act, I love the University... it has been a gift and a fortune to be here, I am deeply grateful for the invitation".
