Dr. Nelly del Socorro Cruz Cansino

Patent: Formulation of dietary fiber supplement, antioxidants and excipient as drug vehicle from epicarp and mesocarp of Opuntia Ficus Indica.

This patent is registered before the IMPI, this invention describes the production process of a new excipient with compressed soluble and insoluble fiber with multifaceted uses obtained from the red and green prickly pear peel. This excipient replaces many ingredients in the production of tablets by having characteristics such as caking, diluting and disintegrating the material that allows the entrapment with subsequent release of the active ingredient. The formulation can be presented in tablet form as an excipient of active ingredients and/or the tablet itself can function as a dietary fiber supplement and does not require additional processing such as coating, coloring or flavoring. The present invention is an alternative to commercial tablets for consumption as ingestible tablets, since it has a coloring by natural compounds, thus no longer requiring the inclusion of any other commercial additives.
