SUBSPECIALTY IN PEDIATRIC INFECTIOUS DISEASES
OBJECTIVE:
Upon completion of the subspecialty
of Pediatric Infectious Diseases
will be able to:

To deepen the knowledge of epidemiology, natural history, diagnostic methods, adequate treatment, pharmacokinetics, indications and contradictions of the most used drugs in infectious and parasitic diseases in pediatrics, as well as their prevention levels.

To deepen the knowledge of clinical research and reports at international level, in the area of the subspecialty.
-
Ability of the pediatric infectiologist to act in his community as an inter-consultant assistant - teacher and researcher.
-
To intervene in the improvement of the quality of health care services.
-
To increase the diagnostic methodology for infectious diseases in order to provide more timely treatment and prevention.
-
To raise the level of basic and clinical research in our environment, which will have an impact on the quality of care provided in our state and, secondarily, in the country.

PROFILE OF GRADUATION:
The subspecialist pediatrician is a pediatrician who is oriented to the service of his community in medical assistance as well as in research, with a spirit of constant updating in the face of scientific and medical technical advances in medicine and especially in Infectious Diseases, becoming the means of communication of this knowledge to future generations.
Knowledge:

He/she will have a precise knowledge that will allow him/her to analyze the pathophysiological mechanisms of the diseases of the infected pediatric patient, to give a diagnosis of certainty and to implement an appropriate management to the diagnosed pathology.

The theoretical aspects of bioethics applied to pediatric infectious diseases.
-
You will learn about the interrelationship between infectious diseases and other related areas such as pediatrics, clinical epidemiology and research.

Will be proficient in the theoretical aspects of the teaching-learning process as applied to the teaching of clinical infectious diseases.

It will deepen the knowledge of pharmacokinetics, indications, contraindications, side effects, adverse actions and drug interactions of the most used antibiotics, antifungals, antiparasitics and immunotherapeutics in the practice of pediatric infectious diseases.

Must have knowledge of the administrative process and the adequate use of material and human resources for the proper functioning of a pediatric infectious disease service.
Skills:

Will have the ability to provide comprehensive care to the infected pediatric patient, including family members.

Ability to analyze the clinical manifestations of the patient, in order to obtain logical and comprehensive diagnostic conclusions.

Identify medical problems of infectious origin.

Apply the theoretical knowledge acquired to provide solutions as far as possible, depending on the pathology in question, both to acute or chronic problems and to the infected patient.

He/she will be an expert in clinical history taking, with emphasis on the infectious aspect.

Coordinate the activities of the medical and nursing team in charge of the infected patient.

Able to plan and organize a pediatric infectious disease service.
