Urban Utopia or Reality
Denis Vinogradov's inspiring artwork is based on images through which his lens captures the daily lives of homeless people living on the streets of Madrid, Spain. Vinogradov's contribution is sustained by something that in decades past might have been considered utopian.
This is due to the fact that a significant number of homeless, once middle class people, have been displaced from that position and forced to live on the streets by many circumstances.
The "homeless," as the Spanish natives call them, have grown outrageously in the last two years. As part of the series, Denis captures similar scenes in India recording specific and splendid moments, beauty can be found anywhere when one learns to observe and appreciate even in what is not to our liking.
We are undoubtedly witnessing a talent that knows how to observe and find beauty wherever it may exist.
Denis Vonogradov
Photographer of Russian origin, but citizen of the world and currently based in Belgium, made the photographic series "UTOPIA AND REALITY" motivated by the remarkable increase of the world population that has been displaced from its position and forced to live in the streets.
The images give us a dramatic testimony of the "homeless" as they are called in Spain, and which are precisely taken by Vinogradov's lens in some neighborhoods of Madrid and India. The faces of these itinerant characters express, in synthesis, their drama and circumstance. That is why Denis Vinogradov focuses the lens for this purpose. Utopia and Reality goes beyond being a graphic reportage, it is an artistic document because of the treatment of the work and the choice of its subject matter.
