March of the Triumphant

The Great Patriotic War affected the destiny of millions of people, changed the lives of entire families, and took 1,418 days and nights from our lives. Today, we proudly hold the title of victorious nation, sometimes forgetting what lies behind it. The exhibition "The March of the Victors" tells the story of the Victory March in Moscow's Red Square on June 24, 1945. For the first time, unpublished photographs provided by the "Russian Army" Information Agency are presented, as well as documents from the Victory Museum collection that tell about the combat path of the Victory March participants, as well as portraits of the Marshals of the Soviet Union. The exhibition shows the power of the country, which despite the difficulties it went through in the post-war period, was able to prepare and carry out the March that would be part of its history forever. Around 40,000 military personnel and 1,850 units of military equipment marched through Red Square. The exhibition is complemented by a series of paintings "Marshals of Victory" made by the honorable Russian artist V. V. Shilov, portraits of commanders - Knights of the highest recognition by the USSR - the Order of Victory, whose names are inscribed in gold letters in the chronicle of the history of the Great Patriotic War. Also represented are unpublished exhibits from personal archives, provided by N. R. Malinovskaya, the daughter of Marshal of the Soviet Union R. Ya. Malinovsky, as well as the personal belongings of the Marshal of the Soviet Union K. K. Rokossovsky, carefully preserved by his grandson K. V. Rokossovsky. The Victory Museum is grateful to its partners - the Advertising and Information Agency "Russian Army" and the Russian Military Historical Society for their support in the creation of this exhibition. "They say that the War does not end as long as one of the soldiers remains alive. But in the centuries to come we will remember those important and terrible years - 1941, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1945..."
