Abstract
In the last seventy years, Mexican society has undergone profound economic, political, social and cultural transformations. In particular, during the 1960s and 1970s, economic growth, an increase in the salaried labor force, rural-urban migration and the consequent expansion of the country's main cities were consolidated. Important advances were also made in education, health and social security (ECLAC, 1993). In addition, a new population policy was implemented and family planning services were consolidated.
