Abstract

In this work, the electrochemical study of a continuous flow velocity system on AISI1018 carbon steel immersed in a synthetic corrosive medium, in the absence and presence of hydrocarbon, is carried out. In the polarization curves, it shows that the increase of the immersion time affects both the anodic and cathodic part, showing that the currents obtained are higher as the exposure time increases for the systems under study, it is worth mentioning that the presence of hydrocarbon in the system increases the currents compared to the system in the absence of hydrocarbon. The Impedance technique shows that the steel has great activity being more noticeable at low frequencies and in the presence of hydrocarbon, since the spectrum shows a flattened semicircle, with low impedance values and an inductive loop in the presence of hydrocarbon. This establishes that the interaction of the ions present in the solution with the metal is favored in the presence of hydrocarbon.
