Abstract

This study is part of a broader inter-university research that is being developed at the national level and whose intention is to know the state of the art of English teaching at the elementary level in public schools through the programs offered by the Ministry of Public Education. Data collection was obtained through semi-structured interviews. In the state of Hidalgo, three programs for the implementation of English in elementary schools were identified: English by computer (IPC), English Enciclomedia and Full-Time Schools (ETC). Information collected from February to April 2009 is reported. The research work continues and the conclusions are, at this point, partial.
