Abstract
The state of the art of English teaching in public elementary schools in the country seems to be far from the conditions conducive to the successful learning of this language by students, or at least this is the reality that this study rescues in the State of Hidalgo, and more specifically in a Full-Time School, and which is part of a broader inter-university research that is being developed at the national level and whose intention is to know the current situation of English teaching at the elementary level in public schools through the programs provided by the Ministry of Public Education. Data collection was obtained through semi-structured interviews that took place between February and April 2009. The research work continues and conclusions are, at this point, partial.
