University Book Fair - FUL

Recommendations for visiting Pachuca and its surroundings

Pachuca de Soto, the Bella Airosa, is the capital city of the state of Hidalgo. It is located 96 kilometers north of Mexico City, in the eastern region of Mexico and within the geographic region known as Comarca Minera. The metropolitan area of Pachuca is made up of seven municipalities: Pachuca de Soto, Mineral del Monte, Mineral de la Reforma, San Agustín Tlaxiaca, Epazoyucan, Zapotlán de Juárez and Zempoala, and has approximately 550 thousand inhabitants.

Pachuca is a city with a temperate to cold climate, so it is recommended to bring warm clothes for the mornings and afternoons, a raincoat and an umbrella because of the frequent rains in August.

If you are staying more than one day in Pachuca, the city has hotels for all budgets.

The University Book Fair, FUL, is located at the Carlos Martínez Balmori Polyforum, in the City of Knowledge of the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo, UAEH, located on the Pachuca-Tulancingo highway, km. 4.5, in Mineral de la Reforma, a municipality in the Pachuca suburbs.

When you arrive at the FUL you can request the program of activities, in which, in addition to knowing the activities you can enjoy such as publishing presentations, conferences, concerts, among others, you will find a map that will help you move around the stands and guide you on how to attend the spaces that make up the venue: Children's Book Hall, Inclusion Hall, Josefina García Quintanar Auditorium, Nicolás García de San Vicente Hall, University Book Hall, Margarita Michelena International Pavilion, Gonzalo Martré Hall and Agustín Ramos Hall. Remember to bring comfortable shoes and an ecological bag to store the books you purchase.

Enjoy your stay at FUL; enjoy the company of hundreds of university students who will welcome you with the traditional warmth of Hidalgo. Learn about new publications and get excited with the participation of writers and personalities of Mexican public life and the world in one place. We invite you to enjoy the artistic activities that are presented every afternoon at the Abundio Martinez Artistic Forum.

In front of the fairgrounds is the University Pavilion, a modern shopping plaza where you can eat, buy UAEH souvenirs and enjoy the artistic activities and exhibitions presented there.

In case you plan to stay a few days in the city, in addition to attending the FUL, you can do cultural tourism in Pachuca and its surroundings.

In Pachuca you can visit the Centro Cultural Universitario La Garza, a building of the UAEH built in the 18th century that housed the old Hospital de San Juan de Dios; the chapel of Nuestra Señora de la Luz, of Churrigueresque style, built between the 17th and 18th centuries, located behind the temple of San Francisco. Other options are the Monumental Clock in the Independence Square, the Royal Boxes, built in the XVII century, the Rule House, current seat of the Municipal Presidency of Pachuca, the Museum of Photography, which gives visitors the opportunity to come into contact with part of the vast collection that guards the National Photographic Library of INAH, and the Barracks of Art, both in the Plaza Aniceto Ortega, and the Cultural Center of the Railroad. While you take your tour, you can taste some of the typical dishes of the region, such as the famous pastes, lamb barbecue or enchiladas mineras, among other delicious examples of the regional gastronomy.
