The Institute of Arts (IA) of the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo is located in the town of Mineral del Monte, in the former hacienda of San Cayetano, a mining property owned by the Count of Regla Pedro Romero de Terreros in the late eighteenth century, the building is currently remodeled and conditioned for teaching and learning the arts.
As an institution of higher education, the IA emerged on December 12, 2001 when it was proposed to the Honorable University Council for approval. It began activities in January 2002 with three educational programs at the Bachelor's level: Music, Dance and Visual Arts; in 2003 the Bachelor's degree in Dramatic Arts was incorporated to the educational offer and in 2018 the Master's program in Cultural Heritage of Mexico began activities. During the 2017-2023 period, two programs will be incorporated to the educational offer to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Music and Dance.
