Pachuca de Soto, Hidalgo. - The Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo (UAEH) presented the Spiritus Universitas award to José Rogelio Cruz Martínez, pioneer in Mexico of fetal heart valvuloplasty, during the Fourth Report of the University Administration 2017-2023, which took place virtually last Friday, March 12.
This distinction was given to the imminent doctor by this university, which recognized the work of Dr. Cruz Martinez, who is in level III of the National System of Researchers (SNI) of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), in addition to having more than 500 citations in scientific papers corresponding to Medical and Health Sciences.
José Rogelio Cruz is a pioneer in Mexico of fetal heart valvuloplasty and has participated in the design of some of the new fetal treatments worldwide, always with the impetus for the dissemination of scientific, social and cultural knowledge, and the desire to influence the training of future researchers.
His name is also registered in several publications of great distinction, such as original articles in international journals, 34 in PubMed, and 11 chapters in books on Fetal and Obstetric Medicine.
In addition to fetal cardiac valvuloplasty, he has performed for the first time in Mexico the following surgeries: fetal endoscopic tracheal occlusion, fetal cystoscopy and laser ablation of fetal tumors. Likewise, he has participated in the design of some of the new fetal treatments worldwide, such as fetal bronchoscopy and fetoscopic tracheal intubation.
"Generosity is not only about giving or sharing, it is the quality of those who have transformed the world, without expecting anything in return," was the phrase used to commemorate the awarding of this year's statuette.
