51 UAEH students receive Fray Diego Rodriguez scholarships

Pachuca de Soto, Hidalgo. - The Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo (UAEH) awarded 51 "Fray Diego Rodriguez" scholarships to students of Architecture, Biology, Foreign Trade, Economics, Electronics, Physics and Advanced Technology, Environmental Geology, Technology Management, Food Chemistry and Tourism.

 

Adolfo Pontigo Loyola, rector of the highest house of studies in the entity, expressed his gratitude and recognition to the 66 benefactors who through their donations supported the university student body, in what he described as an act of altruism. "The academic faculty of the University has given a sign of affection and solidarity," said the rector of the UAEH in his message.

 

Promoted by researchers, professors and officials of the institution, the "Fray Diego Rodríguez" scholarship was created with the objective of supporting the studies of UAEH students, whose economic situation has been affected as a result of the current health crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

 

The rector emphasized that the academic performance of the students is the reason for the greatness and prestige of the institution, which has allowed it to confirm its position in the 1001st+ place worldwide in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2021.

 

In turn, he urged the scholarship recipients to give back to the new generations in the future with altruistic and supportive actions that show their worth as university students from Hidalgo.

 

Lidia García Anaya, president of the University Board of Trustees, highlighted the great work of the university community in undertaking actions that allow the continuation of the path of those who are the pillar and future of the country, despite the complex situation that the world is going through.

 

"In the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo we cannot afford that any student abandons his or her studies for economic reasons," said Garcia Anaya, who announced the delivery of 10 more scholarships by the Board of Trustees.

 

Similarly, Orlando Avila Pozos, coordinator of the Division of Research, Development and Innovation of the UAEH, highlighted in his message the efforts of the benefactors who made possible the creation of the scholarship "Fray Diego Rodriguez", who committed to the education of the people of Hidalgo gave part of their salaries to support their students.

 

The grant is aimed at students in their fifth semester of undergraduate studies and above who do not reside in the municipalities of Pachuca de Soto and Mineral de la Reforma.
