Abstract

To the extent that young Mexicans adhere to democracy, it will be legitimized and consolidated in the attitudes and behaviors of individuals, going beyond the institutional formality of a single sphere, the political, to encompass social relations in their fullness. In this respect, the extension of democratic behaviors, convictions and customs will sustain "a participating political culture where political culture and political structure are congruent". Well, this "civic" political culture is the one that regulates attitudinal patterns consistent with the "democratic" and does so by establishing cognitive and emotional links with the construction of subjectivities that internalize the democratic rules and make them aproblematic, that is, not subject to public discussion, especially with regard to its central mechanisms: effective suffrage linked to political freedoms and respect for minorities, distribution and weight of powers, formal equality before the Law .In this sense, we present the results of a mixed research on the perception of young Mexicans on the one hand, and university students in Hidalgo, on the other.
