Implementation of a Methodology with the 5S Technique to Improve the Tooling Area of an Aluminum Extrusion Company.

This work is based on a case study applying the methodology called 5?s that the authors successfully implemented in an Ecuadorian manufacturing company, specialized in aluminum parts for export. If quality were religion 5?s would be the first sacrament. This methodology, oriented to the creation of productive environments, represents a tool of order and cleanliness that allows to optimize resources in a significant way through simple procedures based on the meager model of daily life of the Japanese people and formally proposed in its beginnings by the Japanese company Toyota. The work shows how the company in analysis manages to reduce costs and optimize time, resulting in the end in a table of quantifiable improvements, inviting reflection on this methodology.
