Abstract


This article presents an analysis of the current state of some methods used by Six Sigma for product development, a brief description of each one of them, the benefits of the application of the Six Sigma philosophy and its impact in the industry are described. The objective is to generate a frame of reference for the visualization of opportunities for the approach of research projects in the topic of design and development of products with the tools considered by Six Sigma. It can be discussed and implied that, although these tools can be used for the development of new products, the companies have their preferences and this has left aside the development of the others. It is important to generate new lines of Research and Development with the remaining Six Sigma tools and exploit their potential. This article does not intend to discuss the value of these tools.
