Abstract
This article reflects on the studies carried out in the Mezquital Valley, Hidalgo, regarding migration to the United States. It aims to make visible the importance of this region within the state, as well as the impacts that migration has generated in the communities, particularly in the form of community organization. This migration process has not been linear or unique, but has generated new processes that have disrupted gender and power relations within local groups within the communities.
