Abstract
This article starts with the historical construction of the Mexican political system and then moves on to the current conformation of this field. In this sense, we consider that it is not possible to understand our political system without taking into account its antecedents in terms of corporatism and clientelism, which integrate networks that affect decision-making in the public sphere. We must pay attention to the networks that are behind these two structural forms of Mexican politics, whose antecedents date back to colonial times, continuing with independence and the Porfiriato, reaching our days with the post-revolutionary methods established by the PRI, and which have been adopted to different extents by both the PAN and the PRD, given the evident advantages obtained from such institutionalized structures in operational forms that affect the entire political field, and which become very visible in electoral campaigns.
