Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present some research results of indigenous migrant families located in the city of Pachuca Hidalgo and their children enrolled in urban schools by identifying the economic, social and cultural capitals that are in tension within the playing field (the city). Another aspect of the problem is to analyze whether the educational system is fulfilling its social task of incorporating minorities through quality educational processes as well as inclusion models, taking into consideration the socioeconomic and cultural aspects of the families and the distances or relationships encountered, since we start from the premise that an education must be consistent with the social task and in accordance with the emerging social dynamics as is the case of the indigenous groups in the city, in this regard, a fundamental principle that should prevail when incorporating indigenous people to the city is the respect for cultural diversity and the specificity of individuals.
