Abstract

The undocumented migration of women to the United States has been a constant in recent decades and it is the economic factor, as well as the recurring crises that have affected Mexico that have caused unemployment, underemployment, low wages and lack of opportunities, to motivate women and especially women from Hidalgo to migrate in order to seek a better quality of life.the wage differential between Mexico and the United States has led to a supply and demand relationship in which the first country becomes the sender and the second the receiver. It is important to mention that the labor force of women from Hidalgo has become necessary for the United States because it is they who perform all those activities considered as low skilled, activities that no native would want to do because of the salary and the lack of benefits they have as workers, which is why migrant women are employed as dishwashers, domestic workers, orange pickers or as nannies. The salaries that these women receive not only contribute to the support of their homes in the United States, but also support the family that has remained in Mexico, as well as the income of foreign currency to the country. This research is focused on women from Hidalgo who live and work in the city of Clearwater, Florida, a state in which there is an important concentration of women from Hidalgo who work in the hotel, restaurant and service industry. It is important because female migration and its insertion in the labor market have not been studied in depth in the state of Hidalgo, so the analysis of this research will contribute to generate statewide information on this social problem; in this sense, the general objective of this research is to analyze the labor behavior of international female migration of Hidalgo origin in the United States.
