Abstract
Given the importance for an institution of higher education of studying the educational trajectory of students, since they are the axis around which most of the university activity revolves (Chain, 1997), it is essential to describe these trajectories within the framework of the formal structure constituted by the study plan and through this document the quantitative and formal evolution of the transit of students through the university is proposed. This trajectory will be characterized in terms of approval, desertion, lag, graduation and graduation; and in order to give greater depth to the study, qualitative aspects should be considered, which are gathered from the students' own concepts regarding their education, which they have generated during their trajectory in the program.Through school trajectories it is possible to have evidence of the levels of productivity and profitability of the educational processes and resources developed in the higher education system (González, ANUIES) Some authors refer that the study of school trajectories for higher education institutions represents the recognition of the problems that must be overcome in order to improve the student's training processes. Through the knowledge of the students' school trajectory, it is possible to implement actions to improve the quality of the educational services offered to them.this document proposes the realization of a descriptive study, which allows to identify the phenomena of school trajectory and constitutes the starting point for other studies that explain the causes or factors that determine it and thus undertake actions to address them.In summary, the objective of this work is to provide elements to explain the scholastic trajectory of the students of the Master's Program in Educational Sciences, how was their transit through the institution and how they make use of the possibilities provided by the university to carry out their studies. For the structuring of this proposal, a compilation of documents was made about studies of school trajectories carried out by academics from various higher education institutions, such as the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, the Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes, the Universidad Veracruzana and the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, whose experiences were very valuable for the elaboration of this work1. In the case of the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo, the methodology in the informatics field to obtain the school trajectory indicators has already been developed by the Institutional Statistics Directorate of the General Directorate of Planning, since this institution has the Integrated Administrative Information System, SIIA, which contains the School Control module with information related to grades, attendance and all student incidents, it is possible to obtain in an agile way the necessary data to describe these trajectories.Likewise, the present work is complemented with the application of a questionnaire that aims to collect the points of view of the members of the two generations studied, regarding their training during the master's degree program. The generations of the program being analyzed are: the sixth generation, which completed its credits in December 2009, and the seventh generation.
