Abstract
Two aspects that highlight the importance of studying and investigating the problems faced by SMEs in Mexico are that they generate a large number of jobs and have a great impact on the contribution to the national GDP. SMEs are analyzed from different characteristics that make up their profile in order to understand their situation and offer alternative solutions. Based on the socioeconomic model developed by the Instituto Socio-Economía de las Empresas y de las Organizaciones (ISEOR), this paper presents the diagnosis of the dysfunctionalities detected in a small company in the metal-mechanical sector, as well as the preliminary results obtained through this intervention, This allowed us to observe that the implementation of the strategy was the most relevant dysfunction, specifically regarding the lack of a systematic and formal planning, which triggers problems in its human resources, for not having a way to evaluate the performance of its personnel, not knowing precisely what they need in terms of training and development and applying inefficient reward policies.
