DISCIPLINARY BACKGROUND


Why study the Teaching Specialty?


The Specialty in Teaching is presented as an opportunity to respond to the needs of teacher training, not only at the state and national level, but also internationally, in order to contribute to promote educational quality. Those who have a university degree are faced with the fact that it is not enough to know the subject to work as teachers and even those whose initial training was in charge of institutions that call themselves teacher training institutions are involved in the growing requirements of pursuing graduate studies with a university character.

Aware of the educational problems, it is recognized that there are great challenges to be faced, among which we can mention: quality service pertinent to social development, improving the teaching profile and designing study plans and programs so that they respond to the demands for social development, increasing institutional relations in the country and abroad, and expanding the coverage of educational services in general.

In this sense, teachers are faced with the need to be trained in the epistemological, pedagogical and methodological dimensions to understand and transform the vision of their professional field, so that their role in society is not limited to the mechanical transmission of knowledge but to the transcendence of knowledge. To achieve this, they must acquire a series of competencies and personal and professional skills and respond to the demands of an increasingly demanding and globalized world.

The Academic Area of Educational Sciences, in correspondence with the needs and social demands of its environment, proposes the Educational Program of Specialty in Teaching, oriented to the formation of teachers with a high degree of professionalism, focused on the "must be with awareness of doing", both individually and institutionally, based on professionalizing training lines, stated in the program and focused on achieving quality education, an adequate integration of theory with practice and a real contribution to the solution of specific problems in the field of education in the State of Hidalgo. These fields are oriented to lines of research and intervention such as: Curriculum, Pedagogical Innovation, Training, Educational Diagnosis and Evaluation.



The Specialty in Teaching of the Academic Area of Educational Sciences of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo, contributes to train specialists with a high degree of competitiveness in the construction, approach, contextualization and resolution of problems of their teaching practice and in the development of projects/proposals for intervention in their work environment, which allows them to assume the educational practice from a transformative position and respond to the needs of students and state, national and international demands, through a critical and creative vision of the educational process.
By 2020, the Specialty in Teaching at the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo is a leading academic program in the field of Higher Education, referring to the professionalization of teachers, because it incorporates innovations linked to the world of work, is accredited, with consolidated academic bodies, its graduates are competent with high professional standards, and meets the educational needs required to develop teaching both nationally and internationally.

General Objective

To professionalize teachers for the transformation of their practice, considering contemporary educational demands, based on theoretical, psycho-pedagogical and research/educational intervention elements.

Specific Objectives:

  1. Analyze challenges and perspectives of education in the national and international context for the identification and selection of problems for research and/or educational intervention.

  2. Organize student-centered teaching and learning processes from a theoretical, psycho-pedagogical and research perspective.

  3. Apply various methodologies of educational research and intervention, from an academic and practical perspective, using ICT, for the development of the terminal project of a professional nature.

  4. To elaborate a terminal project of professional character oriented to educational research and intervention, from the lines of generation and application of knowledge, which guide the Specialty.

The lines of Generation and Application of Knowledge (LGAC) that belong to the Academic Area of Educational Sciences and are linked to the Educational Program of the Specialty in Teaching are:


  1. Comparative Studies in Education, which aims to place educational research in a global perspective, with the purpose of appropriating processes and contexts of innovation and educational development in other countries with a global vision and sensitivity to the impact of the knowledge and information society.

  2. Social and Cultural Studies in Education, which constitutes a space for the development of social theory linked to education and the approach to social, cultural and economic processes to discuss educational issues from a development, welfare and sustainability perspective.

  3. Educational Policy, Social Subjects, Management and Institutional Development, which allows thinking about education from the policy processes and public policy agendas at the national and regional levels, assessing their institutional and social implications to promote innovation and development of education from the normative, organizational and financial perspective.

  4. Curriculum, Pedagogical Innovation and Training, which positions research in and on education from the perspective of curriculum design and pedagogical and didactic processes aimed at improving the training of students and teachers, considering critical reflection on institutional contexts, technologies and the subjectivity of the agents and subjects involved in education.

  5. Educational Diagnosis, Evaluation and Planning, which refers to the need to support educational research through the timely diagnosis of needs, levels of progress and educational performance in different actors and processes, linking them with innovation and quality management actions in institutional areas and evaluation and planning processes oriented towards the construction of desirable future scenarios.

The lines associated with the Teaching Specialty program by correspondence with the NAB are: Social and Cultural Studies in Education; Curriculum, Pedagogical Innovation and Training; and, Diagnosis, Evaluation and Educational Planning. However, the student may carry out projects with topics from the other lines and professors from the Academic Area of Educational Sciences will be assigned as co-responsible for the project.
