Introduction

The UAEH, through the Social Work Academy Area, faces the requirements of globalization and demands of new social scenarios, offering the Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, a program with quality in the training of human resources, dynamic and changing, to perform with a high level of competitiveness and excellence in the provision of services that contribute to the social welfare of individuals, groups and population in general, at regional (municipalities), state, national and international levels.

With this proposal it is intended, in the short term, that the educational offer in the AATS is relevant and of quality, with the purpose that its graduates have a solid formation that allows them to be competitive in the face of the new challenges that the beginning of this new millennium poses and help consolidate a social, economic, political and cultural development.

Currently, the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo is consolidating its leadership in the training of professionals, diversifying its educational offerings, taking care of its quality and relevance; it has grown in infrastructure and equipment, with a permanent linkage and extension with the different social sectors, it has also carried out various actions to have an agile and efficient administrative management, putting special interest in the training of professionals, seeking to have relevant educational programs that keep it at the forefront of knowledge. The university redefines its cultural and scientific purpose through an Educational Model that establishes the foundations for the university structure as a whole, as well as the contents and values of the academic, administrative and financial work.

The object of study and intervention of Social Work encompasses the social problems that every day become more complex and take root with more strength, which entails an exercise of rupture with old forms of intervention and approach to social problems and needs, keeping knowledge updated, through the integration of professional intervention models, by means of own knowledge and other disciplines.

Therefore, it is required to train students with a horizontal view, which allows them to articulate new knowledge, discourses, critical practices, skills and values, so that they can execute them in their personal, professional and social reality. The curriculum pays special attention to the identification and study of social problems and needs, the development of intervention strategies, through work with organizations, social, economic or population networks. This implies a challenge, because it combines knowledge such as professional specificity, contemporary social theories, new public management, the construction of collective identities, the socialized resolution of basic needs and sustainable development.

In this context, students are encouraged to adopt an emerging practice, since Social Work activities are immersed in an environment of change, generated by global economic processes, where social imbalances and needs are becoming more acute, so that the study and intervention in social policies, management and social welfare management is gaining momentum. This means that professionals in Social Work, from their work with the population, will be able to make accurate diagnoses, creating models of social intervention that will be operationalized through social policies, planning and organization of society to achieve its welfare. The guideline to be developed is to promote the training of professionals capable of analyzing social problems through the design of intervention strategies that contribute to the strengthening of all human capacities in the public, private and especially social sectors, such as non-governmental organizations, private assistance institutions and civil associations, thereby providing concrete answers to generate immediate results in the search for a more just and equitable society.
