The Academic Area of Communication Sciences has its origin with the creation of the Bachelor's Degree program in Communication Sciences, which was approved by the Honorable University Council on October 27, 2000.
The Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences carried out its first academic activities during the January-June 2001 semester, with a group of 47 students, in the building of the former School of Social Work, in the City of Knowledge.
For the January-June 2004 semester, the Academic Area and its Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences opened its new facilities at the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities ICSHu, where students carried out their internships in spaces built specifically to develop the contents of each of the subjects.
To date, the Bachelor's Degree in Communication is accredited by the Inter-institutional Committees for the Evaluation of Higher Education (CIEES).
The academic area has two academic groups: Escenarios de la Comunicación (consolidated) and Comunicación y estudios interdisciplinarios (in formation). Likewise, a postgraduate program is being designed, a master's degree in strategic communication and media language, which will be professionalizing.
