DISCIPLINARY BACKGROUND


Why study the Master in Public Health?


The Master in Public Health is a program with a multidisciplinary approach and eminently social character with emphasis on epidemiology, preventive medicine and environmental health that causes social development in the state, as well as nationally and internationally. The execution of public health transcends at the social level from the daily environment in promoting health, improving lifestyles and maintaining the health of the human population from the perspective of health promotion.

It is a program that is recognized in [PNPC-CONACYT] which guarantees to provide society with human resources of the highest quality, capable of responding to the real health needs of society.



To train professionals with solid ethical and humanistic support, with the ability to join work teams to analyze, direct and respond to the challenges imposed by public health in their work and social environments, as well as to be leaders in the development of research projects in public health, with legitimate social commitment that allows the solution of problems related to the health of the population at national and international level.
By 2020, the Master's Degree in Public Health of the Academic Area of Medicine of the Institute of Health Sciences of the UAEH is recognized for its quality in training professionals capable of designing, conducting and evaluating health programs, for being supported by academic bodies and networks that cultivate lines of generation, application and innovation of knowledge and that contribute to the solution of health problems in society.

The training offered by the Master in Public Health Postgraduate Educational Program provides students with knowledge on risk and damage control, surveillance and environmental protection that have an impact on health promotion, which constitutes the fundamental contents of the LGAC of the academic bodies that support the program and that allow the development of projects for the identification, description, analysis, interpretation and prioritization of public health problems that affect the population, as well as the development of strategies that affect the health-disease process, in the fields of Epidemiology, Preventive Medicine, Epidemiology and Public Health, as well as the development of strategies that affect the health-disease process, description, analysis, interpretation and prioritization of public health problems affecting the population, as well as the development of strategies that affect the health-disease process in the fields of Epidemiology, Preventive Medicine and Environmental Health.

  1. To provide students with knowledge and methodological tools that allow them to identify, interpret and make decisions regarding the problems and health needs of the population through scientific methodology, in a multidisciplinary manner with a high humanistic sense and vocation of service.

  2. To provide students with the knowledge that will enable them to design, conduct and evaluate public policies and health programs in the context of public health from the perspective of epidemiology, preventive medicine or environmental health, focused on solving health problems with an ethical commitment to society, at the regional, national and international levels.


With the purpose of obtaining better results in research and the correct application of the knowledge generated, the Master's program has three Lines of Generation, namely:

  • Biomarkers and Population Health, whose objective is to consolidate high-level basic and applied research in the area of biomarkers and collective health, as well as to strengthen the educational offer of quality graduate and undergraduate programs at the Institute of Health Sciences, addressing social needs and priority areas in the region, as a factor of change in local, regional and national socioeconomic development.

  • Priority Public Health Problems, with the objective of promoting and strengthening research in the field of public health, and in order to design, implement and evaluate services, policies, plans, programs and projects aimed at the welfare of the population, from the perspective of epidemiology, preventive medicine or environmental health.
