Why study the Specialty in Pediatric Dentistry?


In Mexico there is a high prevalence of diseases that affect oral health, being caries, an infectious process that affects a large number of children and young people, followed by dental fluorosis, malocclusions, periodontal diseases, etc.

For this reason, the coverage of the demanding population continues to be very low, in contrast to the fact that specialized dental care is one of the most frequently demanded in the different public health institutions.

The knowledge acquired by the specialist in pediatric dentistry is of a high academic level, where the professional acquires the skills and abilities to generate solutions to oral health, the specialist in pediatric dentistry has the academic level to care for the child population from 0 to 14 years. With attention at a particular level as well as hospital.



The Specialty in Pediatric Dentistry is a postgraduate educational program that is integrated to the project of the Academic Area of Dentistry and trains human resources in the different dental disciplines with a high academic level, with knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that allow them to generate critical thinking skills, communication and collaborative leadership, as well as generate alternatives in the solution to problems related to oral health in the state of Hidalgo. Committed to ethical, humanistic values and unrestricted respect for the environment.
The Specialty in Pediatric Dentistry is a postgraduate program of excellence that generates graduates with high social acceptance for their academic level, demonstrated by the specialized care of the oral health problems that the population presents; it is an educational program recognized nationally for being supported by academics recognized in the field of discipline and teaching, which allows its graduates to have a broad and solid training, oriented to help in the solution of the oral health problems that occur at state, regional, national and international level.
  • To provide students with the disciplinary and interdisciplinary scientific knowledge that will allow them to establish adequate diagnoses of oral diseases and disorders.
  • To provide students with knowledge and disciplinary skills that allow them to treat and solve oral health problems in the population.
  • To develop in the students values that allow them to see the oral health of society from an integral point of view.
  • Oral diseases and disorders

    There is congruence between the objectives of the program and the line of application of knowledge that are cultivated in the Academic Area of Dentistry, so that the students of the specialty will be inserted to professional terminal projects derived from the clinical and theoretical activity that supports the program. These lines contribute substantially in the formative process of the students, who have been incorporated to the terminal projects derived from them, working at the same time and under the responsibility of the professors or academic tutors.
