Full Time Research Professor, has worked at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH) since 1996 to date. He has a degree in Agroindustrial Engineering from the UAEH and a Master's degree in Leather Technology from the University of Northampton, United Kingdom. He also holds a PhD in Food Science from the University of Nottingham, UK.

Dr. Aguirre has teaching experience as he has taught at the Bachelor's (Agroindustrial Engineering), Master's (Food Science) and PhD (Agricultural Sciences) levels. He belongs to the National System of Researchers with a level I. In the field of research, he has shown great experience in the extraction, characterization and purification of biopolymers of animal origin such as gelatin, collagen and hyaluronic acid for their subsequent application in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. He is also interested in the development of biopolymer-based films that provide functional properties and are environmentally friendly. Dr. Aguirre has conducted research stays at Purdue University (2012) and at the National University of Galway, Ireland (2015), collaborating arduously with his academic peers to consolidate the academic body of Integral Agri-Food Harnessing. The training of human resources at the undergraduate, Master's and PhD levels is one of its strengths and has allowed it to generate important products that have had a significant impact on UAEH indicators. Among other products we can mention: theses, articles indexed in JCR and SCOPUS, lectures, research projects and book chapters. In the aspect of Innovation, Dr. Aguirre has stood out winning the Innova-T award in 2014 and the Hidalgo Award for Science, Technology and Innovation in 2016. Likewise, in 2018 he won the National "Leaders in Innovation Fellowship" award granted by the Royal Academy of Engineering of the United Kingdom and which allowed him to travel to London, United Kingdom for three months to attend courses on innovation and product commercialization. Derived from the research projects, the registration of a patent before the IMPI was carried out since 2017. This patent process has completed the formal reviews and in 2021 the first substantive review was answered. Dr. Aguirre is CEO and founder of the science and technology based company Uni-Collagen S.A. de C.V. since 2015 to date (www.unicollagen.com.mx).
