High School Community Service Administrative Area



What is Community Service in Baccalaureate?
It is a supervised educational experience in the General Baccalaureate Competency Curriculum. It is defined as an activity that demands the participation of young people, guided by an academic operator, in various projects that contribute to the solution of problems and the improvement of the objective reality, through the various cross-cutting themes outlined in the General Baccalaureate Educational Program PEBaG 2019.

Transversal axes
The transversal axes are the problematic and critical topics related to the social life of the individual and that, as training components, will be explicit in the educational programs.

Social transversal axis: covers topics related to financial, moral and civic education, for peace (human rights), gender equity, interculturality, non-sexist language and road safety.

Environmental transversal axis: are themes such as respect for nature, use of natural resources, sustainable development and recycling.

Transversal axis of health: refers to issues of comprehensive sexual and reproductive education, health care, prevention and consequences of the consumption of toxic substances.

Transversal axis of reading skills: composed of topics such as reading promotion, reading comprehension, reading and writing, and reading community texts or texts in native languages.

Transversal axis for the development of integral education: develops the personality of the human being in a balanced way, considering it as a complex being (biopsychosocial), so that each part that constitutes it grows and evolves harmoniously to reach its fullness, considers the potential of the individual to develop its capabilities. It is based on the conviction that while the human being is alive, he/she can favor his/her development and therefore, reach a higher level of learning. The objective of integral education is to develop skills, capacities, values, attitudes and intra and interpersonal aptitudes that allow the educational actors to interact in diverse situations.

Overall objective
To achieve that our students develop an attitude of service by living a social reality through community programs, which contributes to the development of their generic competencies, providing a benefit to the community and contributing to the actions of university social responsibility.

Specific objectives

  • To foster in students the values of solidarity, cooperation and social responsibility in order to form a professional ethically committed to his or her community.
  • To train students in the management of community service, deepening their integral academic formation.
  • To apply the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired during their high school studies to the daily life of the students.
  • To integrate its school with its social environment, in order to contribute to the well-being and sustainable development of the communities in its area of influence.
  • Strengthen the link between the University and society.

Duration

  • The community service will have a duration of 60 academic hours, which must be completed continuously, in a period of one semester, starting in the fifth semester, distributed in 20 hours for each partial, in which they will develop strategies that allow them to make the Community Service an activity that contributes to their integral formation.

Work modality

  • Students will participate in the Community Service as a group.
