It was founded in 1997, with the purpose of forming a professional musical group of excellence that will allow the dissemination of symphonic music among the university community and society in general.
Gaétan Kuchta assumed the position in 2016. Since then, he has been directing the group composed of 71 musicians, 14 of whom are scholarship holders of the Bachelor of Music of the Institute of Arts of the UAEH. He is preceded by conductors Fernando Lozano, Román Revueltas, Eduardo Álvarez and Armando Vargas.
Annually, it offers two seasons with an attractive variety of classical, popular and thematic concerts, in which the most famous and demanding repertoires of classical music are performed, sharing the stage with guest conductors and concert artists of national and international stature.
More than two decades of history and countless experiences shared in the Aula Magna "Alfonso Cravioto Mejorada" of the Centro de Extensión Universitaria, permanent venue of the concerts, where more than 30 thousand people are received every year.
The Orchestra has been conducted by prestigious national and international conductors such as: Darrell Ang (Singapore), Marlon Chen (Taiwan), Christian Vasquez (Venezuela), Nisan Ak (Turkey), Mark Kadin (Ukraine), Matteo Parmeggiani (Italy) and Dmitri Orlov (Russia), Raúl Miguel Rodríguez (Spain), Enrique Batiz, Fernando Lozano, Iván López Reynoso (Mexico), among others.
In each symphonic gala have participated national and international soloists of great trajectory such as: Anna Göckel, Fabrice Millisher and Julie Sevilla (France) Goran Filipec (Croatia), Ilya Yakushev (Russia), Gianluca Littera and Cristiano Burato (Italy), Adrián Justus, Horacio Franco, Erika Dobosiewicz, Mauricio Haneine (Mexico) and Kristina Fejes (Hungary).
Throughout its 19 years of history it has presented operas such as: "Carmen" (2001); "The Magic Flute" at the International Festival of Tamaulipas (2004); "Tosca" in Reynosa Tamaulipas (2010); "The Barber of Seville" (2011) and "Clowns" (2016). As well as Zarzuelas such as: "Luisa Fernanda" (2001) in the City of Pachuca and "La Verbena de la Paloma" at the National Center for the Arts (2012).
In 2005 she presented the Ballet "Gisell" and in 2016 "The Nutcracker" at the Gota de Plata Auditorium in Pachuca, Hidalgo. As part of his discography are: "El Hidalguense" (2004); "The Four Seasons" by Antonio Vivaldi (2005); "Tamaulipas es mi tierra" with tenor Ricardo Rodríguez (2010); Nessun Dorma, Opera Arias, Zarzuela Romanzas and Neapolitan Songs with tenor Carlos Galván (2014). He has also made the DVD recording of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in collaboration with the Institute of Arts of this house of studies, The Beatles & Queen Sinfónico and De película (2015).
Performed the world premiere of the work Concierto Amerindio Kapish-huisch by the German-based Mexican composer Arturo Pantaleón Mendoza Jansch.
In 2018 the Orchestra made its first international tour to Colombia, thanks to funding from the Secretary of Culture at the federal level, performing in the cities of Cali, Bogota and Medellin.
In the same year, the production of the concert "Elefante Sinfónico" was carried out, together with the alternative rock band Elefante, which includes songs such as "Amores prohibidos", "Ángel", "Así es la vida" and "Durmiendo con la luna", among others.
In special concerts he has shared the stage with artists such as: Carlos Rivera, Aída Cuevas, Eugenia León and José Joel.
The Symphony Orchestra of the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo A.C. performs two seasons a year, including classical, popular, didactic and special concerts, which allow the audience to enjoy symphonic music, favoring social integration. As part of the Season, concerts are included in the season, which have had great acceptance among young audiences, but also our captive audience. Some of these concerts are: "Tributo al Sol", "Ritmos Latinos", "Tributo al Príncipe", among others.
Through the program "Painting with the OSUAEH", students from different educational institutions at the elementary, middle and high school levels have the opportunity to learn how and who make up an orchestra, witness a concert, interact with the musicians, artistic director and feel part of the OSUAEH. During this experience, the spectators begin their first approach to symphonic music, thus encouraging a taste for the art.
The OSUAEH presents multidisciplinary concerts aimed at a varied audience, through attractive proposals that respond to the interests of the audience and that allow in the same scenario the healthy coexistence and musical appreciation of the arts (dance, music, theater).
